M.I.A

It's been over a month since I've blogged.. but for good reason!
We have been so busy with the house, working and going on vacation (what a life) that I have totally forgotten to BLOG.

So many exciting things have been going on in our lives.
First and foremost I'm going to be an AUNT!
I can FINALLY scream it from the rooftop... my brother and sister in law are pregnant and are due in February! It's the first grandchild on our side of the family so everyone is stoked!
I can't wait to hug and kiss "Baby Oliver," I'm so happy for you guys- Ryan & Marguerite!
plus one ;)

Secondly, good things have been happening for Kyle!
I don't want to go too much into details but I'm very happy after all these years and hard work- it has paid off and Kyle is very blessed :) I'm so proud of you Kyle, you're such a hard worker and I love you!

My best friend, Chez, got her dream job this year and will be teaching Kindergarten at FDES! I'm so very happy for her and proud of her! She has worked hard to get where she is and I couldn't be happier for you, Cheserae! We love you :)

Chez's Classroom :)

Our neighbor's just had their little boy, Collin, who was 5 weeks early but he is doing well and is happy and healthy:) He was 5lbs and 19 ounces. I'm so happy they're doing well and we can't wait to Welcome them home! Congrats Ashley & Blake!

We've been doing so many things around the house and going on little get aways that I haven't had time to upload any recent pictures but they are to come. I could continue on but I don't want to make this too long! I just wanted to give little shout outs to certain special people ;)

We are extremely excited.. our birthdays are in a month and it will be our first married birthday together :)

Shagging :)

Our first official "Shag" Night.
Kyle & I went with a group of friends/Kyle's boss to Shag Night at Miler Country Club in Summerville. It was alot of fun. Kyle & I don't really know how to shag but we are going to take shag lessons once he's off his crazy work schedule and I'm back from vacation ;)
The Band of Oz played that evening and theyre pretty good!
We danced all night, had a few cocktails, ate,  and danced some more.
I definitly look forward to another "Shagging" night with the Mr.

Cooking with the Bluthardt's

We have officially cooked 4 "homecooked" meals in our new house and it's only been 2 weeks... that's pretty good for us. I took pictures of only 2 out of the 4 nights, but I did snag a picture of our first alcoholic beverage with Miss. Cheserae(future Mrs) in the new house! The first homecooked meal was my famous pancakes. I may not be able to cook much but I can make some darn pancakes ;)
The second meal was Saturday night with my best, Cheserae, we cooked pasta with shrimp, peppers and garlic. This night we had some YUMMY famous Cheserae dessert that if I could I'd eat every single day! We also had a few tasty beverages.

Sunday night Kyle and I made homemade pizzas... We LOVE cheese so we made cheese, fresh tomato and parsley pizzas ;) They were fantastic.

Last but not least, last night we grilled out (first night!) steaks and kabobs with 2 different types of beans (Kyle's doing) , mac & cheese and yummy Cheserae's (what was left over) dessert! This was ALL Kyle's doing and he's a pretty great cook :)

I will keep you all updated on our homecooked meals when they happen again... This girl is no domestic wife, that's why I married a man who could cook!

Father's Day & Special Birthday

Happy Father's Day, Dad!
I got to spend some time with my Dad in Pawley's Island at his FAVORITE place to eat, Island Bar and Grill. It was great to get to see him and be able to spend some time with him :) We also got a great family announcement that will soon come out... later! I have to keep my bloggers on their toes ;)

My brother Nicholas, who is in Sharana, has a birthday today :) He turned 26!
Unfortunately, he doesn't get to spend it here with his family and friends. He is over there working hard, making that money! I hope he had a great birthday and I'm sure the guys over there made it as wonderful as possible :)

Kyle's Dad, who lives in Hawaii, we didn't get to see (obvious-he lives on an island) but we did send him a gift and we hope that he had a great day. Maybe one day we'll get to spend some time with him on an actual Father's Day :)

So to 3 men in my life... Happy Father's Day and Happy Birthday, Bubba!

Officially Homeowners :)

As of May 31st, Kyle and I are homeowners!
We closed on our house and have been moving, moving, moving ever since... it has been crazy but we couldn't be happier :)
Like I said in my previous post (below) it has been a bittersweet feeling for me to leave my "wescott home" and move into something brand new with new memories. It isn't a bad thing at all but it definitly has been a little different for the past 2 weeks!
The day we closed we went to Lowe's and bought a gallon of "weeping willow" paint and painted our entire living room (besides the trim, i'm horrible at that). We were so excited we wanted to start moving right away... sure enough we did. We have officially moved all the way in... settled? That's a whole different blog ;)
We have painted 4 different rooms (pictures will be up sooner rather than later) and we have "set up" each room how we would like it... for the time being ;) I like to move furniture. alot.
Kyle, Ty and Cullen built an entire fence in a day and a half... wow. They were POOPED!
Walker now has a back yard he can run freely in :)
I am so thankful for what we have been blessed with and will put pictures up shortly... I must finish an entire room before I show pictures though, so I'll start with the outside of the house :)
home sweet home

our new beginning...

For those who know Kyle and I, we have been going through the process of becoming homeowners and (fingers crossed) everything will be completed May 31st and we will have a house that is OURS. Ever since I got married (3 months ago) I haven't felt "married." Everyone says it changes and your relationship changes and everything about you, including your name, changes. I haven't felt any different other than calling this man I've known more than half my life my "husband." That has been an adjustment! The house we have lived in for the past few years has been our home and all that we've ever really known. We literally got engaged in this house, in our bedroom (after he made me go through a little path to find him with rose petals and notes.. but that's not the point). I'm not going to lie I am sad to leave behind this home that we have made so many memories in that I can't even list on this blog because I might get a little emotional. I know they say when you get married that you're on your own... You do away from your parents and become one and I don't have a problem with that but changes kind of freak me out (those of you who know me, know that I freak about everything anyways) but really you start to think you're leaving this house you've lived in for years to start a "new beginning" in this very large and brand new home and it's no longer "his" or "yours" ... it's YA'LLS. Who would have thought that word would have such a LARGE meaning... I don't mind sharing with my husband that's not the problem readers, the problem is I feel as if when I move out of this house that everything I've ever done or known is about to really change and I will feel MARRIED. wow. Good thing I love and even like my husband ;)

Happy Mother's Day :]

I believe that each special Mother out there deserves more than just one hallmark holiday, "Mother's Day," for us all to say thank you to our Moms and buy them a nice gift or take them out to eat... We should appreciate these amazing women more than just ONCE a year! I know I say "Thank You" as much as possible to my Mother and I tell her everyday I love her... I am truly blessed with an amazing, strong, supportive, loyal, caring Mother and I would not trade her for the world. She is my heart and she has been there for me more than anyone else in my life. I admire her for where she's been, where's she going and who she is for so many different reasons. She has taught me so many things in life and I would not be where I am today without her love, advice and support. I am also very lucky to have her acceptance and support of who I married- makes me wonder who she loves more! She is the ROCK of our entire family and we are all so blessed :)
So Mom, THANK YOU and
I LOVE YOU!

Next Few Days...

There are so many exciting things coming up in the next few days that I am so looking forward to! For those who know us best know that we have been "House Hunting" ALOT lately and have recently felt in a way discouraged because A. the houses we LOVED would put us in way over our heads with DEBT and B. we just didn't love any one home in particular. This week our amazing real estate agent came across a home that Kyle and I both fell so in love with and I haven't talked too much about it only because I don't want to jenks it... but this weekend we shall receive either good or bad news :) so say a little prayer for us!

This weekend Kyle and I are flying to Maryland (thanks to Southwest, direct flight!) to visit with his family. We get to meet the "twinkies" and we are soo very excited! I definitly married into a GREAT family and love this group so much! The "twinkies," which are twin girls Riley and Caitlyn, are getting bapitized Sunday and we are so thrilled to be apart of this great weekend! I got the girls amazing gifts from etsy (of course) that are handmade and personalized so I will definitly be putting pictures up of the gifts this week... I'm a little obsessed :) I know the girls will absolutely love them and appreciate them when they get older and have a memory of their very special day. I can't wait to see squeeze those babies!

A moment I've been waiting for for months is finally here... My brother comes home MONDAY! He is in Afghanistan and has been there since October 26th. He isn't coming home for good (until October 2011) but he gets to come home for 2 weeks for a little R&R. I have missed him more than he even realizes... He missed our wedding which broke my heart but I got to skype with him the day of, which meant the world to me. I can't wait to hug his neck on Monday and spend some time with him! I definitly know my parents are THRILLED he will be back home for a little while :)

My brother and I few summers ago

Typical Nicholas :)

i do. i did. now what?!

So I come home the other day and have a little surprise sitting on the table next to my front door. My Mom usually leaves me little surprises (which I love) but this little treasure she found was priceless!

The one question I have gotten over and over is "do you feel married?"
I started wondering what in the world does that really mean? I mean we all know marriage is totally different than dating but what is "marriage" really about? After everything is all said and done, what is next? No, I know what you're thinking... NO kids right now! But what do you do after the wedding planning rush, after the incredible honeymoon, after unwrapping the rest of your wedding gifts, after sending out most (in my case) of your thank you notes and after you're married? What do people mean by, do you feel married?

Ding! Ding! Ding! Someone thought just like me but instead of just thinking about all these questions and trying to figure out the answers... Someone wrote a book about it :) It's called
I Do. I Did. Now What?!
I started reading it as soon as I got home that evening and I can't put it down. It's so true and all my same thoughts are someone else's thoughts, also. I am very excited to read this book and blog about it :)

But in the mean time... all you BRIDES out there, check it out

Thanks Mom! :)

The Name Game

Thanks to Megan :]
This is what happens when your husband works night shift...
How did you parents decide on your name?
Well, they never really agreed on my name. It was supposed to be Rachel Diane and when my mother was all drugged up she decided "Kaitlyn" but my wonderful Father wanted me to be "Kady," which has caused so many fun name calling events to take place growing up- Thanks Daddy, why not "Katie?"
So I'm "Kaitlyn" but called "Kady" and obviously you know that if you are reading my blog!

Do your initials (first/middle/last) spell anything funny?
KMOB. Well, I just sound like I should be in some gang or something K-MOB.
But no they don't spell anything.

Did you take your middle name from childhood or did you drop your middle name and take your maidenname as your middle name?  (Or if unmarried, what do you plan to do?)
I had a hard time letting my "name" go. I mean I've been Kaitlyn Michelle Oliver my entire life, I didn't think it would be as hard as it was to get let go of Michelle or Oliver so I just decided to be Kaitlyn Michelle Oliver Bluthardt :)

Are you or will you name your children systematically (ie, same first letter, same origin, etc?)
Um, I have thought about naming them with a "K" but my luck I'll have ALL boys and there aren't very many "K" names for boys.

Did you decide on names as a little girl?  Did you stick to them or change your mind?
I have and my friends and family know that I've always wanted to name my little girl a certain name :) We'll see if it happens one day!

Does your family have any names that have been passed down through generations?
Yes, mainly on my Father's side... my brother's names were from my dad's side of the family.

Do you look at the meaning of the name or just the name itself?
Lately, I've come across some names that have really neat meanings but it's just been because I like the names, hasn't been on purpose.

Do you name pet names with human names or dog names?
I named Walker after a person- I just really liked the name.

Are there any names that you have an affinity or dislike for based on a childhood experience or someone you once knew?
Yes, I think everyone does.
What are some of your favorite names and why?
My favorite name for a girl is Rian. I've always loved the name and my oldest brother's name is Ryan (so I changed the Y to an I). I guess I like "boy" names for girls. I also really like Kaley and Parker for a girl.
For a boy, I love "Caleb," but have already been told no.
I will use "Chapman" for my boy's middle name after my Dad and brother.
I could go on and on... but when it seriously is time to think of names for children... I'll be better at it ;)

Your turn!

Room Decor

Since Kyle and I have been looking to buy a home I've decided to start re-decorating our home now!
Makes sense if you think of it as finding things now and buying them instead of getting all new things once you move in your new home- that gets expensive!
We got a new bedroom comforter and bathroom set back in January so I've been focusing on adding little details to our room... Today I found the most perfect lamp at WalMart (go figure, wasnt even looking) and it was a great purchase for sure!
Once I got home and rearranged our room to find the perfect spot for the lamps I got, I hung a few of my favorite wedding pictures in our newly arranged room. I LOVE good buys!

Tradition of Weddings

 Something BORROWED,
Something BLUE,
Something OLD,
Something NEW &
Something LEARNED....

On my wedding day I had one of each:
Borrowed
My Granny's Pearls that I wore as my bracelet
Blue
Ribbons on my dress to tie up the loose ends
Old
My Grandma "Oliver" ,who passed away when I was 13, left behind a sapphire ring and for my wedding day it was a gift given to me from my Aunt and I was more then thrilled for that ring to be my "old." It means the world to me.

picture of both gifts - pearls & ring
New
My lovely dress :)
Learned
Not only do the smallest things EVER not even matter on your wedding day, that you spent SO much time on, they don't even seem to be a memory for me. The food that I spent months trying to make decisions on, that I NEVER got to eat, seemed to be a very big part of the wedding so I'm very happy my Mom picked an incredible caterer. Not only do you have rings, special vows and a piece of paper at the end of the day... you have amazing photos that you will cherish for the rest of your lives.. so definitly choose your photographer wisely and spend the money in that area for sure! I absolutely loved my photographer [www.amyprikazskyphotography.com]

and the most important lesson I learned was that blending families together is NOT always the easiest thing to do and in our case it definitly wasn't easy but at the end of the day it's about you and your groom only and everyone else just needs to put on their big girl/boy panties and a smile and be happy for what the occasion is truly about! there may have been a few other lessons learned but not ones to blog about ;) publicly!

I couldn't thank my parents & wedding party ENOUGH for ALL they did for Kyle and I. We truly are blessed with an amazing family and the love & support from so many! Of course, our family that traveled to share our special weekend with us meant more to us than ya'll will ever know! THANK YOU!

Special thanks :)

My previous blog was about my fellow bloggers who decided to start blogging and I was so excited that I forgot to THANK my friend, Megan Smith (aka Meeegan), for introducing me to the "BLOGGING" world! I love reading her blogs :] Thanks Megan, you're the best.

it's the "new" thing

So after careful consideration I decided to start "blogging" about my life and all the wonderful wedding do's and don'ts I got to experience... I was worried I was putting too much of my "life" on the internet and that it would be something I got bored of but it has done the total opposite :)

I decided to start blogging about wedding "stuff" and I do really enjoy it, but I love to blog about my life and the wonderful people in it... so bare with me when I start to ramble on about things that aren't wedding related.

That being said... Two of my friends have started blogging [welcome aboard!] and I just wanted to give a little shout out and to tell ALL to check out their blogs!

http://www.helinheels.blogspot.com/ is FABULOUS Haley, who is full of knowledge when it comes to ALL sorts of things and always knows the "newest" about anything in the world... definitly a much needed blog to follow :)

http://www.cemp-aroomwithaview.blogspot.com/ is my "best" Cheserae... she was the lady down below who just "got a ring on it!" :]
she is the most positive friend i've ever had and so insightful about the many different things we come across in life... love, friendship, growing up, family.. just to name a few!
her blog will definitly be a daily read for me!

Newly Engaged!

My BEST friend is ENGAGED! *CM & EP*
For some it is old news and for others it is  "new" news... but my best friend got engaged March 5th and I'm so happy for her!
They deserve a huge CONGRATULATIONS and I'm very happy you have found each other :)
I'm so happy it's her turn now to have all the "wonderful" wedding planning fun and her wheels have definitly already been turning!
For those who want to follow along with her wedding planning maybe we can convince her to blog a little about all her planning once she gets there... I just wanted to say Congratulations and Kyle and I love you both!<3

Just Married :)

It's official... We're Married!
We had an amazing week/weekend of wedding bliss and spending time with our amazing friends and family. Unfortunately, Kyle and I got extremely sick a few days before but on our wedding day we pushed through the sickness and said "I DO!" We leave tomorrow for our Honeymoon and I sure am glad we waited a whole week. Could you imagine flying to Jamaica having the flu and strep throat, no thanks ;)

It's amazing how much time you (and in my case, my mother) spent so much time and effort putting this one night together and it only lasts for 8 hours from start to finish... Many people have asked me if I'm glad it's over or would I change anything... Answer is yes I'm glad it's over ;) I had the TIME of my life and I loved our venue, band, caterer and my amazing photographer but I do wish it would have lasted longer than 8 hours. I will post pictures after the honeymoon :)

On a different note...
I can't wait to get back to blogging about the "Truths" of Wedding Planning!

Wedding, Wedding, Wedding!

Wishing on that Wedding Weather...
I've become obsessed with looking at the weather every second of every day hoping I'm going to figure out what the weather will be Saturday, February 19th! From the looks of it, it will be warmer next week so that's a good thing. Just praying for no rain... so when you say your prayers, say a little one for BEAUTIFUL weather for me ;)

as much as i love this picture... i hope for sunshine :]

The {20} Day puzzle pieces are coming along great... Kyle had them all layed out trying to piece them together last night as I just giggled when half of them were in the wrong place :) We are on day [12] and I just can't BELIEVE it! There are so many last minute things to do this week and I am definitly looking forward when there is NOTHING else to do. I'm looking forward to my life going back to some sort of "normal." Once I'm done doing my "100 To Do" list then I'll be able to relax and actually enjoy the fact ... we are getting married! I'm so excited about all of our friends and family coming into town next week. Our first visitors- Kyle's Dad, Stepmom Gina and brother Christopher all the way from Hawaii :) They'll be here Valentine's Day and we're super excited! All of my family coming from Texas will be here next Thursday and I can't wait! Once things are calm I'll be able to do more "Wedding Myth" blogs... until then I'll be wedding planning :]

So much to do, So little time :]

Six weeks ago I started this blog. Six weeks ago I thought to myself "Two weeks will never be here..." ha! Two weeks before the wedding... is Saturday. I sit here and think {almost midnight} of all the things I should be doing and all the things that should have been done ummm 6 weeks ago. I imagined my last two weeks before the wedding were going to be relaxing and laid back and just enjoying the exciting BIG day coming up... yeah nooo way! I haven't finished wedding favors, Mom is yelling at my about the programs, honeymoon isn't booked {completely}, need to re-arrange the house for our out of town visitors, haven't finished purchasing gifts & accessories, Mom's dress hasn't come in yet {yikes!}, need to finish slideshow, need to print pictures out... oh the list goes on! I guess I just think it's going to happen on its own... ha, not gonna happen. I'm more ready for this Honeymoon {that isn't completely booked, yet!} to be here than I thought! All this running around and freaking out and loosing sleep for ONE day... Better be worth it ;)

On a good note... Kyle and I completed our last counseling session with our pastor from our church {one more session with the other counselor... we must have big issues ;) } and at the end of the counseling he told us he wanted to show us what to be expected the day of wedding. So we actually went through the whole thing of the vows and the exchanging of rings and the "kiss the bride" and I got butterflies like no other! Kyle must have been nervous because just when we were practicing he was squeezing my hand so hard my pinky was being pinched by my ring {poor guy gets nervous easily- bad thing is it was just me and pastor in the room- imagine 200 people looking at him! ha} It was pretty surreal.

Hope to all have wedding related "Things To Do" completed by end of the weekend... I would like to actually enjoy some time right before the wedding :) Super siked Kyle's dad, stepmom, and little brother will be here a week from this Monday ... can't wait!

{Twenty Days}

The Next 20 Days
There are only {20} more days until I say "I DO!"
I came up with a little idea to give Kyle a little something each day until our wedding day. With a little help from {cem} we came up with a puzzle! This certain lyric from a song sticks in my head and it fit perfect with the concept of a "puzzle." When I think of Kyle this lyric pops in my head {the best part of me has always been you} so I went with it...
For the next twenty days Kyle gets a puzzle piece with a reason written on one side of why I love him so much and [obviously] why I'm marrying him. On the other side is a piece to a picture... but of course you need all the pieces of the puzzle to put the picture together. So along with Kyle, everyone must wait to see what the end result is of these pieces! He definitly smiled when he got his first piece!

myth #3

Pre-Marital Counseling ISN'T  a bad thing!

For the most part I think every couple has in the back of their mind... Why do we need to have pre-martial counseling? Is there something wrong with us? Do people think we shouldn't get married? Are they going to tell us that we aren't right for each other or that we shouldn't get married? Okay.. So maybe not everyone thinks that way but I know me and Kyle did! Of course everyone has problems... but to start "counseling" before even being married totally freaked us out. Can I just say that this was the best decision we have made-to go a few weeks of pre-martial counseling! Our pastor, Curt, is marrying us from our Church and they require this counseling... and I TOTALLY understand why now :)

Kyle may kill me for blogging this but... it's definitly part of THE HONEST TRUTH of steps to getting married! Usually when you're in counseling you have "problems" or you feel like no one "understands" you or you feel like you have no one to talk to about whatever so you find a complete stranger to tell all your problems (good&bad) who won't judge you. I love pre-marital counseling... well, moments of it ;)

In our Pre-Marital Counseling it started out with taking a "Personality Test" it's about 200 questions that we answer without the other person around. We took the test then we sent it back in and had to set up an appointment with our counselor. So {imagine this} first session we sit down and start talking {on the couches next to each other.. like the movies} and she starts reading off what I "disagree" about and what I "agree" about and same for Kyle... That's where it started getting intense ;) [that's a NICE way to put it] I don't think any couple deals with "issues" or "problems" if they don't have to... You just kind of go on about your merry little lives and then when it POPS back up you deal with it. Well when someone is pretty much pulling every little thing you dislike about your other half out in the open and making you "express the way you feel" to your spouse... That isn't the most exciting hour! Now, I won't go on and on about what we had to talk about and what we had to be "honest" about {even though some of you are DYING to know;) } but I will say that half way through our counseling we both realized it was the best thing we decided to do so far! But I have to say... this "Personality Test" is definitly trickey! The questions that are asked are so twisted it's almost like a "trick" question to get you in trouble or something.... Throughout our counseling sessions there have been a few questions that Kyle and I both look at each other and wonder what in the hell we were thinking about when we answered those! The section of this Personality Test that really shocked me {I'm not sure about Kyle.. We'll get his opinion} was the "Differences in Personalities." I never realized how different he and I really are! For those of you who are dating, engaged, or married... look at which "love language" you are from  The Five Love Languages  because this is a really neat concept and it makes you realize alot about why your "spouse" is the way they are or why they expect certain "needs." Our Pastor and Counselor pointed out a really neat book that makes you open your eyes up a little bit more about your spouse and that one is called His Needs, Her Needs - Kyle is in the middle of reading this one :) So, my point to this "blog" is just because your church or your Pastor requires you to go through "Pre Martial Counseling" doesn't mean they think you aren't right for each other - it's definitly something that makes you a little bit stronger, a lot closer and you appreciate your spouse a little bit more ;)

Few thoughts from my dearest love, my Fiance!
Not only was he so kind to go to each session and deal with me being honest and not taking offense from anything I said - he actually likes to talk about what we both learned from that previous counseling session. Kyle has learned {his words} that the cause of so many things that he and I deal with are from the divorces/relationships of our parents and how much it has affected our lives and our relationship. We have to close the door to our past and open a new one for our life together :)

We have two more counseling sessions so I'll definitly add a little blog later down the road to sum up our experience with "Pre-Martial Counseling!"

Just feeling a little love towards my soon to be hubby:)

and a little musical note to add how much I love him :) Enjoy!
Goodnight All

I am a day late blogging about this special lady... but my BEST turned 25 January 20th :)  So this is my very special shout out to my very special friend....
Happy Birthday, Cheserae!
She shares her birthday with her Mama (which I think is super special.. Happy Birthday Mrs. Julia!!)

Just a little note to say that there are few friends quite like you... You say things that I care about and you do things that matter. You make a difference to me! You make a difference to other people too... and I know for a fact that if you were not here... I wouldn't like the world quite as much as I do now :) Thanks for being the best friend a girl could ever ask for!

So here's to Cheserae... May this year be the best yet!! I love you!
